Government to miss housing target, NHF chief suggests
The government's target of building three million new homes by 2020 could be missed by up to nine years unless Ministers intervene further in the housing market, the UK's top housing association chief warned today. Unless radical action is taken immediately only around 1.6 million homes will be delivered by 2020.

The Greenbelt is "not sacred" and should be built on to allow more affordable housing, the Policy Exchange think tank has said. Writing in Total Politics magazine, Policy Exchange chief economist Dr Oliver Marc Hartwich said even the term itself is misleading and the government should tackle the "myth" that land is a scarce resource in England.

Greenbelt laws ‘quashed’ for homes go-ahead
The Government has been accused of snubbing the council to give the green light on the largest ever housing development in the borough. Leader of Bromley council, Stephen Carr, said he is 'horrified' that the massive property development on Blue Circle sports ground, Bromley Common, has been given the go ahead. He said that the approved Asprey Homes developments on 34 acres of Greenbelt land.

‘Investors buying agricultural land in the UK’ has been the success story of 2008 as it has been resilient to the property downturn. As the property market declined and residential development land values plummeted, agricultural land ends the year up 21.5% on 2007 values, according to research by Savills.
